What We Avoid
The skin is the largest organ of the body. It is a semi-permeable barrier that releases perspiration, oils and toxins from the body but also absorbs much of what we put on it. If the body cannot break down or eliminate this foreign substance, they are stored away in the fat cells and accumulate over time. Protect yourself from harmful substances! The following ingredients are what we avoid in our products:
-
Phthalates is believed to cause hormone disruption & asthma. Phthalates are found in many leading beauty care products, including hair spray, deodorant, nail polish and perfume that you may be using everyday. Women between the age of 20 to 40 years are reported to have higher levels of dibutyl-phthalate (DBP) in their bodies than anyone else. Cosmetics and other personal care products that contain phthalates are blamed to be the cause of the problem.
-
Methyl, propyl, butyl and ethyl paraben, used to extend a products shelf life and inhibit microbial growth. Highly toxic. Can cause rashes and other allergic reactions, linked to cancer.
- Sodium Laureth Sulphate / Sodium Lauryl Sulphate can be found in Shampoos, toopastes, body washes etc. They are very strong detergents, which can cause irritation and permanent damage to the eyes (specially in Children), skin rashes, hair loss, flaking skin and mouth ulceration. When combined with other detergents, they can form nitrosamines(any of a class of neutral organic chemical compounds which cause cancer), which are carcinogenic and can easily pass through the skin into bloodstream, accumulating in the heart, lungs, liver and brain
- Petrolatum & Mineral Oil is used industrially as petroleum based grease component, and also is knows as liquid Vaseline, Miniral Oil Jelly, Baby oil and paraffinum liquidum. This substance strips off the natural oils from the skin and forms an oily film over the skin which prohibit the release of toxins. It can also cause photosensitivity, chapping, dryness and premature aging.
- Aluminium salts (aluminum compounds). Aluminium has always been considered a heavy metal similar to mercury (but with a much lower atomic weight) and yes, it's contained in most of the usual over-the-counter deodorants and antiperspirants in the form of aluminum chlorohydrate. Products containing aluminum salts can reduce perspiration by as much as 50 percent, but studies have linked the cumulative effects of aluminum compounds exposure with Alzheimer's disease.
